By pledging as little as $5 a month, you can have a big impact on school attendance rates in remote Indigenous communities

The Give Me Five challenge is an incentive based program that challenges students to make a commitment to attend school for five more days than the previous term. Students with low school attendance (usually between 20-50%) are identified on a term-by-term basis and invited to participate in the program.

“I PLEDGE TO ATTEND SCHOOL FIVE MORE DAYS THIS TERM THAN I DID LAST TERM.”

the introduction of the Give Me Five aspect of the Starting Block Program has been a huge success in our partner schools.

11 students in Woorabinda successfully received ‘Give Me Five’ awards with an average increase in attendance of 22%.

On Palm Island, 20 St Michael’s students participated in ‘Give Me Five’ and of these, 80% achieved their attendance target.

One student improved from 43% to 73% in Term Three and then increased from 73% to 100% in Term Four.
