We are the children of Palm Island!

As Andrew makes his way through Rockhampton and Gladstone this weekend, we thought we'd share this heartwarming clip of Palm Island's Bwgcolman Community School students singing the school anthem during Andrew and Cathy's recent visit. What a treat!

It has been a jam-packed week full of excitement and activities for the Cathy Freeman Foundation's community partners. Both Palm Island and Woorabinda celebrated the end of Term 3 Starting Block Awards whilst our NT community partners will celebrate next week. The Starting Block Program encourages students to set and achieve goals. At the end of each term, students who have shown achievement or improvement are rewarded with educational literacy or sporting packs.

The event is run by the Foundation's community staff and is an important fixture in the school calendar. The Awards are a way in which the Foundation connects with parents and families and an opportunity for students to be recognised for their academic success in front of their peers, teachers, family and other community members.

Thank you to everyone who has supported programs like this by donating to Andrew's 10,000km drive. Andrew's latest passenger is journalist and commentator, Mr Charles Rogers from Historic Racing Australia. Thanks to generous supporters like Mr Rogers we are helping more Indigenous children realise their potential in school and beyond.
