Our Back to School community events were officially rolled out to all community partners at the start of the 2018 school year. Kicking off with great success in our Northern Territory partner schools last year, the march will become a regular event in all four communities at the start of every term to encourage school attendance.
The Back to School march welcomes children and families back to community for the first day of school and kids who attend the first day also get a special School Starter Pack filled with classroom essentials. The march provides an opportunity for families to meet teachers and Cathy Freeman Foundation staff.
Murrupurtiyanuwu Catholic Primary School (MCPS) in Wurrumiyanga were thrilled with their school attendance for day one of 2018 with 86% attendance across the school, and 100% for Preschool, Transition, Year 2 and Year 3. What a fantastic way to start the year!
