A message from the CEO

I would like to introduce myself as the new CEO of the Cathy Freeman Foundation. I am a Barkindji Woman, of the Barkindji people of NSW, born and raised in Melbourne.

I am incredibly excited about the tremendous opportunities ahead where Indigenous children continue to unlock their potential and succeed in school, as well as the opportunity for us to continue to grow our valued network of friends and supporters.

It is a privilege to be working with a first class Board of Directors, talented staff and four wonderful remote communities, which I look forward to visiting and getting to know in the coming weeks.

I’m very keen to get to know you, our supporters and friends of the Foundation, to hear your ideas and to share our passion for greater education outcomes for Indigenous youth. Above all, my main focus is on the young people we aim to walk alongside and empower through education. We are with them the whole way - building confidence and resilience, setting goals and achieving them, right through to Year 12 graduation. We couldn't do it without you. Your support, generosity and continued genuine interest in our work is so greatly appreciated and ultimately brings out the best in program delivery and outcomes. Thank you. On a final note, I’d like to thank interim CEO, Courtney Brown, for her hard work and commitment in this transition phase.

Warm regards, Jade Colgan CEO Cathy Freeman Foundation
